When the Apple iPod was first released there was only one type available. It would play music and that was all. You would upload music onto your iPod either through you own music collection from your computer, or by downloading tunes through Apple’s software program ‘iTunes’. But these days things aren’t as simple as there are different iPod models available. Some can store pictures and even play video. This guide will help you decide on which model is best for you.
The first iPod had a 5 gigabyte hard drive and went on sale for US $399, but these have been discontinued. Although, if for some reason you wanted to buy on old model iPod, you could easily purchase one second hand for a good price. Just keep in mind that the original iPod was bulkier and the battery doesn’t last as long as the newer models being made today.
The iPod Mini was the next iPod to come out after the original one, but they too have been discontinued. The iPod Mini was a smaller version of the original iPod, and was easier to carry around. It has less hard drive space that the original. Apple then made an iPod Photo, which boasted a color screen so it could display photos. These models have all been discontinued, so if you want the latest and greatest iPod, you should decide between the current generation iPods: the iPod Video, the iPod Nano, or the iPod Shuffle.
The iPod Video
The current ‘regular iPod’ on sale today is known as the iPod Video. It comes in types, the 30 GB or the 60 GB versions. It has a color screen, has much improved battery life over the older iPods, and can store songs, photos and videos. So if you want the very best iPod around with all the latest features, go for an iPod Video.
The iPod Nano
The iPod Nano is a smaller iPod which can play music and display photos, but cannot play videos. It has a smaller capacity than the iPod Video, yet its lighter and easier to carry around. If you don’t care about playing videos on your iPod, then you might want to go for the iPod Nano as its cheaper than the iPod Video and is more portable.
The iPod Shuffle
The iPod Shuffle is the smallest of the new iPods, and the most portable. It doesn’t have a screen, so it all it does is play music. This is what most people buy an iPod for anyway, so if you don’t mind not being able to view photos and videos, the iPod Shuffle might be the one to get. The storage space in a Shuffle is 512MB to 1GB.
Hopefully you should now understand the different iPods that are available out there, and choose one that suits you. Whether you buy an iPod Video, Nano, or Shuffle, you’ll be in on a great new craze that is a lot of fun!

Nokia N93i: don't just say cheese...say action!
Author: adam caitlin
With emerging technologies, the mobile phone market today have become more like a fantasy world where one gizmo after another is launched to overcast other mobile phones by showcasing their own skills and specialties. The Nokia N series is one such family of 3G multimedia devices that has captivated everyone with their unique attributes – from imaging to music capabilities.
The Nokia N93i is a member of this reputed family and is an upgraded version of their earlier offering – the Nokia N93. Infact, the 'i' stands for 'improved'. This exotic mobile phone with all the works of a real digital camcorder is not only good at still imaging, but also a master at shooting DVD like videos.
The Nokia N93i is a smartphone based on S60 platform (third edition) and works on Symbian Operating system. The handset features a unique 16 million coloured, twist and rotating TFT screen. This allows you to use it as a viewfinder while the handset is in camera mode – just like any camcorder. A secondary OLED screen displays information when the Nokia N93i is in closed position.
Camera module of the Nokia N93i is 3.2 megapixel with lens made by highly reputed Carl Zeiss. Clarity and high resolution are only the basic factors for a good picture. To make them really great, a whole bunch of other features like integrated flash, optical and digital zoom, autofocus are included in the Nokia N93i. However it is not the still photography but the video recording abilities of the Nokia N93i that set this smartphone apart from the clutter. The handset records truly high definition footage at 30 frames per second in MPEG4 formats. Digital camcorder's territory has been seriously breached.
There is much more to the Nokia N93i than just imaging. The feature list includes 3G video calling, WiFi, Bluetooth, global GSM mobile connectivity, radio, media player and a decent 50 Mb of internal memory with hot swappable memory card slot.

Flat Screen TV Comparison: Plasma vs LCD
Author: Mitchell Medford
Flat screen TV is one of the most popular and exciting TV technologies today. At only a few inches thick, flat screen TVs offer unparalleled flexibility and convenience. Older conventional TV's, in fairness to them, did offer crisp and vibrant images. However, these TV's, which operate through a cathode ray tube (CRT), suffered from one major drawback, they were bulky. As screen size increased, so did the bulk and weight. However, the TV of old has reached its twilight years. New television technologies have enabled TV manufacturers to create TVs with wider screen size yet still only a few inches thick. Thus, flat screen TVs usher home entertainment into the 21st century.
Flat Screen TV basically refers to two technologies: Plasma and LCD. The advances in these two technologies have enabled TV makers to build thin, lightweight TV screens with a large picture area. Plasma and LCD both offer similarly large, lightweight, flat screen TV's but the similarities are skin deep for their inner workings are different.
Plasma or LCD?
Plasma and LCD TVs generally look similar however they use very different technologies. Plasma utilizes a grid of tiny cells of gas plasma that light up and create a picture when charged by precise electrical voltages. LCD (liquid crystal display) screens on the other hand are made of liquid crystals sandwiched between two glass plates and create images by varying the amount of electrical charge applied to the crystals. Both Plasma and LCD offer excellent picture quality. The following are their strengths and weaknesses and edge over the other.
1. Plasma screens can display blacks more accurately compared to LCD. Thus, pictures in a Plasma TV have richer contrast and better detail especially in dark TV and movie scenes. LCD TV's are catching up however.
2. Plasma TV has better viewing angles than LCD TV. How far you can sit on either side of the screen before the qualities of the pictures are affected is what the "viewing angle" is. In LCD TVs, brightness and color tend to shift when angled too far while that of Plasma TVs remain solid.
3. Plasma TV can produce brighter color while light leakages in LCD screens affect the color saturation.
4. Plasma TVs are priced relatively less than their LCD counterparts especially in the large screen segment. Plasma TVs offer much larger sizes than LCDs, yet are still priced lower.
5. LCD has a higher native resolution than plasma TVs of the same size. This results to sharper images and makes LCD TV the better choice for HDTV.
6. LCD TVs consume almost 30% less power than Plasma TVs.
7. LCD TVs are generally lighter than similar sized Plasmas.
8. Among the two, LCD screens have a longer life span than plasma screens. LCDs can last up to 60,000 hours compared to Plasma that average from 30,000 to 60,000 hours.
9. Plasma TVs are more prone to screen burn-ins compared to LCDs although newer plasma technology are less susceptible to these.
If you are looking for a large flat screen TV, Plasma TV is recommended. Plasma TVs can give you better value for your money. The price difference between Plasma TVs and LCD TVs is big. However, if you have money to burn, then LCD TV is the better choice especially if you want the sharpest images. For smaller flat screen TVs at the range of 15" to 36", LCD is the way to go. Ultimately, both technologies are still evolving and new innovations and improvements are definitely in the works.

Podcasts on Your iPod
by Adam White
What is a podcast? A podcast is a multimedia file that an iPod user can receive through a paid or free subscription over the Internet. The podcast uses syndication feeds or "RSS feeds." They can be played back on your iPod, mp3 player or personal computer. The podcast has been around since 2000 and by 2003 regular podcasts were being broadcasted across the web.
Podcasting is a version of "push technology" which allows the subscriber to choose feed channels. The multimedia files are transferred from a server to a client, which pulls XML files containing Internet address of the available media files. These files may contain audio, video, images, text, PDF and other file types.
The content provider then acknowledges the existence of the different files by referring these file through another file known as a "feed." The feed is the list of URLs where the files may be found. This is generally done through a file published in RSS or Atom format. This format provides information such as the publishing date, titles, text descriptions and possibly even pictures. In general podcasts are one feed from one author; however, multiple authors are able to contribute episodes through a single podcast feed in public podcasting.
These feeds are posted on web servers and should be permanent in their location. The provider makes the feed known to the intended audience. For example, if you were to purchase a subscription to a podcast, the provider would provide you with the podcast feed URL. In order to manage your feeds, you will need a podcatcher or receiver to subscribe to and manage feeds. ITunes allows users to do this through their software. Users are also able to subscribe to free or paid podcasts. Users are then able to transfer their podcasts to their iPod or other mp3 player. Users do not have to have an iPod to receive podcasts.
Podcasts were initially intended for broadcasting radio shows and similar media. The system is so versatile that they have been used for distribution of school lessons, audio tours of museums, conference meeting alerts and updates and even by police departments for public distribution of safety messages. Podcasts are very versatile and unique, which allows them to be used with various different types of media.
There are several other different types of podcasting and distribution networks. There is autocasting, blogcasting, social media, streaming media and user content. Distribution networks include Content Delivery Network, MMS podcast, Mobilecast, Peercasting, VoiceCast and Webcasting. There are also audio podcasting services such as MP3 blog, Phonecasting, Skypecasting, Soundseeing Tour and video image podcasting such as Photofeed, Video Podcast and Screencast.
Podcasting is not related directly to the iPod and Apple did not develop the name of the podcast. Several different media players may download Podcasts and you do not need an iPod to subscribe to one. ITunes does make it easier for the iPod user to have access to podcasts. Podcasts can be very informative or used for entertainment. ITunes allows you to download casts by various artists as well as comedians and other stations. ITunes also offers paid and free subscriptions to podcasts.

How To Make Free Realtones for Your Cell Phone
If your phone uses realtones, it is very easy to get them for free. Basically, a realtone is a ringtone derived from an mp3. It is actually just a chunk of an mp3.
All you need to do is download an mp3 editor, cut out the chunk you want, send it to your phone, and set it as your default ringtone. You should be able to accomplish this via email, bluetooth, or ftp.
If you have T-Mobile or another carrier which blocks you from doing this, they can't stop you from bluetooth-ing it to yourself. It works the same as games, except you don't have to install and run them.
If you have the memory available, you don't need to cut up the mp3; just send it to your phone and set it as your default ringtone.
Most people don't realize how easy its becoming to get free ringtones. Its about time you don't have to pay for your ringtones.

The Razr Family is Expanding! Razr V3i, Pink Razr, Blue Razr, Verizon Razor
Motorola is planning to cash in on its huge success with the razor thin look and feel of the original Razr v3. The NPD Group, a leading cellular market researcher, found that Motorola cell phone sales accounted for 30% of the 31.6 million cell phones sold in the third quarter of 2005. The Motorola V3i with iTunes software and the Pink and Blue cell phones promise to give Motorola an ever-increasing share of the cell phone market.
People who care about how they look or want to make a statement, will be the first to get their Motorola Razr fix. These Razr thin phones are ceating a lot of attention - making them must-haves in some circles.
Mazal Tov!
The Motorola Razor family is growing by four new members; Motorola RAZR Pink (RAZR PNK?) and Razr Blue, (RAZR BLU?) plus two new versions - Motorola CDMA RAZR for Verizon with EVDO and Motorola RAZR V3i (with iTunes). The new Razr phones include all the great features as the original models. The Blue and Pink versions are really style updates designed to make your cell phone an accessory - like a stylish watch.
The new CDMA version of Razr (for Verizon) will satisfy the appetite of Verizon Wireless subscribers who have long ogled over Cingular and T-Mobile's Razr offerings. The Razr V3i aims to redeem Motorola's slightly tarnished reputation when it comes to MP3 phones. Unlike the Rocker which had only music going for it, with the Razr V3i the MP3 capability is essentially an add-on.
The Motorola has not made a statement about the chosen carrier for the Motorola v3i many are speculating that Cingular is the choice. Besides being Razr thin like the original Razr v3 the new v3i has added appeal with the inclusion of the Apple i-Tunes software like on the Motorola ROKR released in September in by Cingular, Apple and Motorola. Cingular just slashed the price of the Motorola ROKR by 40% and several leading cell phone dealers like AmericanCell and YouNeverCall now have the Motorola phone available for free with the purchase of a new Cingular plan.
Until now the Motorola Rokr is the only cell phone around that plays tunes from the iTunes Music Store. Another new addition to the ever increasing Motorola Razr family is new Razr VC? which operates on networks of CDMA standard wireless EVDO. Christmas holiday season shopping has now been enhanced with the inclusion of the Razr V3i which sports a 1.23-megapixel digital camera with 8x digital zoom, video capture and a full-screen viewfinder.
Additional features include a hot plugging memory card, a display with sixty-five K color support and built-in Bluetooth. For the late summer-early fall season Motorola earned a profit of $1.75 billion on revenue of $9.42 billion. Motorola stated that its monetary gains for this period were all due to the tremendous success of the Motorola Razr v3. Now Motorola is hoping to further push its financial gains for the next quarter! We'll wait and see.
Sam Michelson is a cell phone maven with over 10 years of hi-tech product marketing experience. Over the past 3 years, his company YouNeverCall http://www.younevercall.com/ has become one of the internet's most successful independent cell phone stores. 100 Million iPods Sold
CUPERTINO, California—April 9, 2007—Apple® today announced that the 100 millionth iPod® has been sold, making the iPod the fastest selling music player in history. The first iPod was sold five and a half years ago, in November 2001, and since then Apple has introduced more than 10 new iPod models, including five generations of iPod, two generations of iPod mini, two generations of iPod nano and two generations of iPod shuffle. Along with iTunes® and the iTunes online music store, the iPod has transformed how tens of millions of music lovers acquire, manage and listen to their music.
“At this historic milestone, we want to thank music lovers everywhere for making iPod such an incredible success,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “iPod has helped millions of people around the world rekindle their passion for music, and we’re thrilled to be a part of that.”
“It’s hard to remember what I did before the iPod,” said Mary J. Blige, GRAMMY Award-winning singer. “iPod is more than just a music player, it’s an extension of your personality and a great way to take your favorite music with you everywhere you go.”
“Without the iPod, the digital music age would have been defined by files and folders instead of songs and albums,” said John Mayer, GRAMMY Award-winning singer-songwriter and guitarist. “Though the medium of music has changed, the iPod experience has kept the spirit of what it means to be a music lover alive."
The iPod has also sparked an unprecedented ecosystem of over 4,000 accessories made specifically for the iPod that range from fashionable cases to speaker systems, and more than 70 percent of 2007-model US automobiles currently offer iPod connectivity.
“I take my running shoes and my iPod with me everywhere,” said Lance Armstrong, seven-time Tour de France champion. “I listen to music when I run. Having my music with me is really motivating.”
Every iPod features seamless integration with iTunes 7. The iTunes Store (http://www.itunes.com/) features the world’s largest catalog with over five million songs, 350 television shows and over 400 movies. The iTunes Store has sold over 2.5 billion songs, 50 million TV shows and over 1.3 million movies, making it the world’s most popular online music, TV and movie store.
Apple ignited the personal computer revolution in the 1970s with the Apple II and reinvented the personal computer in the 1980s with the Macintosh. Today, Apple continues to lead the industry in innovation with its award-winning computers, OS X operating system and iLife and professional applications. Apple is also spearheading the digital media revolution with its iPod portable music and video players and iTunes online store, and will enter the mobile phone market this year with its revolutionary iPhone.

iPod was designed as an mp3 / mp4 player for people with an active lifestyle. It is compact, sturdy and lightweight enough to take with you wherever you go. It was designed to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand or to be carried into a pocket or purse for easy transportation.
It comes in many storage capacities from 512 MG to 80 GB. The amount of memory it can hold, depends on the model or on the compression rate of your songs.
As an mp3 player it was designed to provide the best quality sound. It has a powerful 60 MW amplifier so it can deliver audio as loud as you want. It also has a 20 MZ to 20 KHZ frequency response, which means you can hear distortion free music at the lowest pitches.
iPod built-in rechargeable battery provides between 8 to 20 hours of music playtime depending on your model. Using the appropriate stereo adapter your iPod will sound great on your home or car stereo system. All iPod`s come as standard with a non removable lithium rechargeable battery. The battery charge will last about 14 to 28 days without use. The lcd display shows the battery level on the upper right corner of the screen. You may charge your iPod by connecting it to an Apple iPod Power Adapter or connecting it to a USB port of a computer. A full charge takes approximately four hours while 80% charge will require at least one hour.
Apple has designed the iPod, as an mp3 player, to work with the iTunes media library software, which allows you to select your music on your computer and on your ipod. iTunes can automatically synchronize this mp3 player with specific playlists or with the entire content of a music library each time you connect your iPod to a host computer.
The first three generations of iPod used two ARM 7TDMI derived CPUs running at 90 MHZ, while later models have variable speed chips which run at a peak of 80 MHZ to save battery life. Another great feature of owning an iPod is the fact that someone can record a discussion and then post the audio file on the internet. This means people can download the file and listen to the file on their iPod. As an mp4 player, with iTunes 4.9, you can now browse and subscribe to podcasts at the iTunes Website. Podcasts are radio shows or other audio/video programs that are downloadable over the internet.
In order for you to be a more satisfied iPod customer, as to the usability and longer battery life spam of this mp3-mp4 player you should consider the following tips:
- Keep it turned off when not using it.
- Update to the latest software.
- Keep it at room temperature whenever possible.
- If you are not using the backlighting, turn it off.
-Turning off the equalizer will save you battery.
- Use compressed songs.

New ways of communication: The VoIP technology
Technology is in a continuous change, it evolves every day. With the help of the Internet, various new and innovating technologies are now accessible to everyone and provide new solutions to the old problems. One of them is the desire to communicate more, cheaper and over longer distances than usual. The solution for this need is the VoIP technology which replaces the traditional telephone landlines. This technology works best on a high-speed connection to the Internet. The dial-up connection is too slow for a real-time voice or data transfer, so it is not recommended. The program used in this type of communication resembles a telephone keypad and works in the same way. It is called ‘Softphone’, which means ‘Software Phone’.
The main advantage of this brilliant technology is its low costs. Every VoIP provider has its own rates, but generally, all rates are lower than most of the traditional telecommunication systems. The VoIP technology transforms analog signals into digital data packets, which are then compressed and sent over the Internet at high speed. When the data reaches the destination, it goes through a reverse process of decompression and conversion to an analog signal. It Even if it seems complicated, it is a real-time process, and that means there will be no delay between the two speakers. There are two ways of calling through VoIP: PC to PC or PC to regular phone. The first alternative is completely free, while the second is charged. The rates of any VoIP provider are displayed on its website, generally at a section called ‘call shop rates’.
Every call shop customer can take advantage of a free online billing system, which detects all the booths that have made calls in the last three hours. The call in progress and the calls that have been completed can be accessed just by clicking on the booth link and the "end-of-day" cash accounting is assisted by daily reports. For this system there are available two levels of access, which means that only the administrator can configure the system, and the day to day billing system procedures can only be attended by the staff in the call shop. The billing procedure is completely self-configuring. You just need to sign up, set the currency that your callers will be charged and in the end set the rates that you wish to charge your customers. For the special call shop rates, you must visit the VoIP provider’s website.
You can use VoIP applications with a simple microphone and computer speakers, but many VoIP manufacturers are designing phones which are specially created to work with this technology, called SIP phones. If you don’t have a SIP-phone you can use the softphone which can be found on the VoIP provider’s website and which perfectly emulates a standalone VoIP SIP-phone and runs on any windows operating system. It is free, easy to install and to use.
Through this new technology, people from all over the world can talk and change data almost for free, no matter the distance between them. Another advantage is the great mobility offered by this service. You can travel all over the world and still make and receive phone calls, because your number remains the same whether you are in Europe or in USA.

The birth of Helio and its successful online promotion
The mobile phone is believed to be the invention of the century. It represents one of the most common and accessible ways to communicate, not to mention the many other incredible features of mobile devices. In 2006 a new mobile wireless carrier was launched, taking the name of Helio, managing to enter the market with total success.
The target of this Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) is young people, feeling the increased need to communicate. This kind of audience is the one that constantly uses the mobile phone, for different purposes, mainly to send instant messages, take cool photos and join online social communities, such as MySpace.
The founding of Helio was a result of the joint venture between Earthlink and SK Telecom, from South Korea. Earthlink has already established a name in the field of telecommunication and the union with South Korea’s SK telecom has proved out to be a wise business decision. SK Telecom is also very well-known for the advanced technology used, having a reputation for being a successful mobile carrier.
Helio mobile service is today part of a flourishing industry and every day more and more customers are drawned to it. Young people enjoy the features offers and consider Helio phones as trendy. The partenership with MySpace of Helio managed to bring this company once more into the spotlight. MySpace can be easily accessed from the mobile phones and provides plenty of interesting options.
The telecommunication market faces in the era of information a stringent competition. Mobile carriers have developed various choices and special offers hoping to attract customers. Helio succeeded to gain popularity with its stylish Helio phones, with advanced characteristics such as the built-in GPS or Buddy Beacon. Perhaps the smartest thing this company did was to stimulate an exact public, young and eager to communicate.
The wireless experience offered by Helio and their Helio phones is more than unique. There are many member benefits and customers just keep pouring in. The Internet has also played a very big part in the promotion of Helio, sharing the world the available information. There are now a multitude of websites presenting not only the history and journey of Helio phones, but also attractive offers for them. Many online virtual stores, such as Finawireless, are engaged in catering to the market’s demands for such mobile devices.
Since its first mobile device invention, meaning Kickflip, Helio has traveled a long way. This year, Helio phones have really outshone themselves, bringing in more attention than ever. Some of the most popular models are the Drift and the Heat, being fashionable and also practical.
The Drift is one of Helio’s amazing mobile devices, being the first to have what is called Location Based Services. It is available in two colors: gunmetal black and white frost. The GPS technology uses Google Maps and allows for the user to be located with ease. There is also the Buddy Beacon application for friends and the high-quality 2Mp camera, available for photos and filming.
Another hot-shot model is Heat, a mobile device that turned a lot of heads around. Just like the name, this model is raging and its popularity is enormous. It comes in onyx(black) and gold, having the same Location Based Services and Buddy Beacon. The most attractive feature of Heat is the contact sensible keys, this being enjoyed by a lot of users.
Helio is a mobile brand that definitely is a success. The cutting-edge technology and the voguish mobile devices are just two of the many things that made it so popular. By watching its evolution and achievements, one can only say that sometimes it is important to know how to sell your business and promote just like you are one-of-a-kind.
